Ashton Winger scores hometown win in Billy Clanton Classic with World of Outlaws
Ashton Winger joined the World of Outlaws Real American Beer Late Model Series on Saturday night as the national tour came to his home turf, Senoia (Ga.) Raceway, for the $15,000-to-win Billy Clanton Classic.
Winger kicked off the evening by setting quicktime among 35 Super Late Model entries before grabbing a heat race win over Nick Hoffman and redrawing the pole for the 50-lap main event. At the drop of the green flag, Ashton dropped to third momentarily before reclaiming the lead on the sixth circuit. Ashton Winger led the remaining 44 circuits and held off Tim McCreadie in the closing laps to secure his fifth-career victory with the World of Outlaws. Winger dedicated his $15,000 triumph to the Clanton family and Smith family.
