Ashton Winger competes with Spring Nationals at Swainsboro and Senoia
Taking part in a doubleheader weekend with the Schaeffer’s Spring Nationals in his home-state of Georgia, Ashton Winger invaded Swainsboro Raceway (Swainsboro, Ga.) on Friday afternoon for the Crank It Up 100.
With 32 Late Models on the grounds for the opener of the 16-race miniseries, Winger’s third-place finish in his heat race positioned him on the sixth row for the feature. Moving forward one spot in the 53-lap affair, Ashton recorded a 10th-place finish.
For another $10,053-to-win A-Main on Saturday at Senoia Raceway (Senoia, Ga.), Ashton topped his 22-car group in time trials before placing second in his heat. Starting the feature in sixth, Winger powered ahead of Wil Herrington for the lead on the ninth circuit and led the next five laps but made hard contact with the turn-three wall after suffering a mechanical failure.
