Runner-up Finish in iRacing Invitational at Volusia

After taking part in real-life racing over the weekend, Ashton Winger returned behind the wheel of his virtual Late Model on Monday evening at the (virtual) Volusia (FL) Speedway Park for the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model iRacing Invitational. With the event leading up to the eDirt Racing Shootout on CBS Sports Network on Tuesday, Winger fell one spot short of a transfer position in his heat with a fourth place finish. Streaking to a 12-lap consolation victory, Ashton locked into the 13th-starting spot for the main event. Wheeling his way into a podium spot, Ashton Winger gained 11 positions to place 2nd behind Corey Gordon with Nick Stroupe, Kaeden Cornell, and Eric Riggins rounding out the Top-5.

For the $1,000-to-win eDirt Racing Shootout on Tuesday, Ashton dropped two spots in the 35-lap feature to register a seventh place finish.

On Thursday night, Winger headed to Senoia (GA) Raceway competing in a field of 43 cars for the DirtonDirt.com Shootout. Grabbing the fourth and final transfer spot in his heat race, Ashton earned the 21st-starting position for the main event. With $5,000 on the line, Ashton Winger was an early retiree from the 40-lap affair on lap 15. (Blake Harris photo)
